This funding will go towards the fleets that the city uses to keep everything running. They will be electrifying government vehicles such as police cars, deputy cars, and firetrucks. San Diego officials are also starting a program to help residents transition into electric vehicle era. The new Clean Cars 4 All program provides over $9,000 to residents of lower income areas to retire their internal combustion engines and help them buy an electric vehicle.
“Residents of San Diego County should be assured that all levels of government are working together to really make progress on climate change,” said San Diego city council member Marni von Wilpert (District 5).
