Renters Looking to Live Green: AMLI Survey

by | Sep 10, 2021 | 0 comments |

Green living is something that has quickly gone from a recommendation to a requirement in most multifamily communities. Renters are becoming more aware of the benefits of sustainability, especially with the climate crisis. Many people are looking to rent a place with a green initiative.

In a survey of 2,800 residents taken by AMLI’s Sustainable Living Index, 84% say living in a green home is more important to them and 85% say it is beneficial to their long-term health. Some key element that should be offered in communities that want to go green include:

  • Energy-efficient lighting
  • Recycling programs
  • Bike storage
  • Premium air filters
  • Electrical Vehicle charging stations

EV charging stations are something most apartments and condos are looking into getting to keep up with the new infrastructure plan. Electrical vehicles allow owners to use a car without transmissions since it is a gasless vehicle but they require charging and having these charging stations available for renters will help contribute to green living.
