Need to Know Info on EV Charging Plugs in the U.S.

by | Oct 11, 2021 | 0 comments

Did you know there are four types of EV charging plugs currently used in North America? EV charger plugs are just like how the iPhone and Android phones have different plugs on the ends of their chargers. Each of these plugs are compatible with different types of vehicles and provides different amounts of power.

Not all charging stations are compatible with all EV vehicles. That is why knowing which plug your EV accepts is critical. With this in mind, the auto industry is trying to move towards a single plug standard with the exception of Tesla. While we are waiting for the auto industry to figure out which plug they are going to go with, the 4 current plugs are as follows:

  • Tesla
  • CCS COMBO
  • CHADEMO
  • J1172

To learn more about each of these changes and find out which one is the most compatible, check out the rest of the article.
